Nelson’s done his duty

After more than 25 years of exceptional service, Nelson Graham, National Sales Manager for Bohle Ltd, retired at the end of March. Nelson’s work colleagues were joined by many Bohle customers in a celebration of his achievements, held at a hotel in Oldham, on his last day in post. Speakers included Bohle MD, Dave Broxton who spoke of Nelson’s legacy to the business and Alex Simpson, the Glassman, Wishaw, who gave a uniquely humorous Scottish insight into Nelson’s home town of Cambuslang. In his retirement speech, Nelson thanked the Bohle team, the customers present and declared his desire to resurrect his love of oil painting and to stay out of his wife Dot’s way! Amongst the many gifts Nelson was presented with were a crystal decanter and glasses by the Bohle staff and a limited edition ‘Red Arrows’ chronograph from the company.

Nelson joined Berlyne Bailey, later acquired by Bohle, on the 27th April 1987 and quickly became a familiar figure in the glass industry. As a recognised expert on glass processing machinery, he could often be found demonstrating Bohle machinery at Glassex or Glasstec. For several years Nelson has worked alongside Lisa Tooth, who now assumes responsibility for machinery, though Nelson’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the industry sees him retained by Bohle in a consultancy role.
