Hydro, owner of the Technal and Sapa architectural aluminium systems has announced that the merger of the two brands is now complete and all the products in the UK will now come under the Technal brand.
All existing products from both brands are retained and available for specification and fabrication. The legacy Sapa product names stay the same but will simply be prefixed Technal, for example, Technal Elegance 52.
The company says this ‘one offer’ range of aluminium curtain walling, windows and doors, as well as specialist solutions for blast and bullet resistance, provides access to a complementary and expanded product offer, adapted to UK requirements and legislation.
Technical enquiries for all the products are handled by a dedicated Product Support team operating across the company’s Tewkesbury site and the new Wakefield office, with field support engineers backing up this team.
Customer service and distribution are now all based at the Tewkesbury site.
UK sales director Allan Barr, pictured, said: “Concentrating investment into one single brand simplifies all aspects of our operations and unites the many synergies we have between both the Technal and Sapa brands.
“From design, specification and product testing to project support, training and delivery, customers will see benefits at every point of contact.
“It also means a more focused drive on product innovation. At the forefront of sustainable building practice, Technal is introducing Hydro Circal 75R. With the lowest carbon footprint per ton of any facade alloy, this is premium quality aluminium with a minimum of 75% post-consumer scrap. All remaining systems will be manufactured from low CO2 primary aluminium thanks to Hydro’s access to renewable energy sources such as hydro-electric power.”
Hydro, now with 35,000 employees in 40 countries, acquired Technal in 2002. It had a 50/50 share of Sapa with the Orkla conglomerate until 2017 when it bought the remaining share to become full owner.
