BUSINESS MICROS is supporting a team from the army’s 33 Squadron who are taking on this year’s Welsh 1000 fell race challenge, aiming to raise £33,000 for the Anthony Nolan and ABF The Soldiers Charities.
The software provider is making a donation to both charities and providing branded T-shirts and hoodies for the team to wear.
Business development manager Nick Bailey explained the choice: “I spoke at this regiment’s leadership day last year on the topic of managing and empowering staff and have stayed in touch since then. As a business, this fits perfectly with our culture of giving back and also appeals to our sense of adventure.”
The Welsh 1000 challenges athletes to take on the five highest mountains in Wales, starting at sea level and finishing on top of Snowdon. Competitors have to navigate the 32km course for themselves within an 8-hour time limit, meaning it’s a test of strength, endurance and map reading.
The event, on 6 June, will be the 50th running of the race and is expected to attract teams from across the military as well as from running clubs, mountain rescue groups and charity fundraisers.
